Bio
Velvet Suns is a high energy rock band with outlaw country roots. Members consist of Melissa Lanpher, Benji Valdez, Chase Whicker and Andy Valdez, all of whom are cousins with Benji and Andy being brothers. Melissa was previously a longtime Nashville, TN resident with her band Orchard Fire and after her tenure there she moved back to Missouri to embark on a solo career. Benji, Chase and Andy formed and had been playing in Everything Mixed Up since 2019. In early 2024 Benji attended a show Melissa played at and afterward they decided to join together. They set a date for an unannounced rehearsal at an establishment Chase’s cousin owned in southern Iowa, but word got around and before long the place was packed and the rehearsal turned into a full show to a crowd that was standing room only. Thereafter they have filled venues and commanded the attention of audiences with their charismatic persona and stage presence at every show since inception.
